About

Investigators, analysts and former compliance, banking and legal professionals, working with a research system we built for this work. We find the record that does not fit, and we show our sources.

Who we are

We are investigators, data analysts and former compliance, banking and legal professionals. Between us we have run investigations across many jurisdictions, built screening programmes for regulated firms and sat on the client side of the decisions our reports inform. We built our own AI-assisted research system because we wanted the speed of automation without giving up the discipline of sourcing every finding.

Who we work with

Small businesses checking a supplier for the first time, start-ups vetting an investor, venture funds and private investors, mid-size companies and corporates managing third parties, banks and fintechs onboarding customers, and law firms preparing a case. A quick check and a cross-border investigation follow the same method and the same evidence standards; only the scope changes.

What we work on

Due diligence before contracts, onboarding decisions and investments; investigations into fraud, asset concealment and misconduct; sanctions, PEP and adverse-media screening and monitoring; and public dossiers on corporate scandals. We research companies and groups of companies; people come into our work only through their connection with them, as owners, directors, officers, founders or counterparties.

Why the dossiers are free

Client work pays for our public research. Dossiers are published under CC BY 4.0: free to read, cite and republish with credit. We do not take payment to publish, change or withhold a dossier. Qualifying journalists and researchers can also ask us for free research reports.

Independence

We decline engagements that conflict with a published dossier, and we disclose any relationship that a reader would want to know about. Our acceptable use policy explains the work we do not take on.
